Unlock Our World Play the game

Privacy and cookies

Unlock Our World is a browser game. There is no account, no sign up and no login. We do not ask for your name, your email address or anything else about you, and there is no server storing your play.

This page sets out what the site puts in your browser, who else is involved when a page loads, and how to change your mind.

Your game progress

Every country you unlock, your statistics, your achievements, your theme and your chosen world region are written to localStorage in your own browser. That is not a cookie: it is never sent to us or to anyone else, it stays on the device you played on, and it does not follow you to another browser.

Because it is what makes the game work at all, it is not something you can switch off. You can delete it whenever you like: Settings, Reset progress inside the game, or by clearing site data in your browser.

What each category covers

Category Who What it stores Needs your consent
Strictly necessary This site localStorage only: game progress, theme, region, and your cookie choice itself. No cookies. No
Strictly necessary Cloudflare __cf_bm and similar, set at the network edge to tell real visitors from bots. Short lived. No
Necessary Google Analytics _ga and _ga_*, which count visits and show which parts of the game get used. Not tied to a name or an account. No
Advertising Google Ads, AdSense _gcl_*, __gads, __gpi and similar, used to show ads and measure whether they led anywhere. Yes

Advertising loads only if you agree

Advertising is not merely switched off by default, it is not fetched at all until you accept it. The site declares denied advertising signals to Google before any Google code exists, using Consent Mode v2, and only sends the update once you have chosen.

If you accept and later change your mind, the advertising cookies this site can reach are cleared the moment you withdraw.

Analytics is counted as necessary here and runs for everyone. It measures pages and events, not people: there is no account to attach it to and nothing you type is collected.

Other things a page fetches

Two services are used for the look of the site rather than for tracking, and they load whatever you choose above, because the site cannot render properly without them:

Neither sets a cookie here, but like any request on the web they do see your IP address and browser. If you would rather avoid them entirely, both can be swapped for self hosted files.

Changing your choice

Use Cookie settings here or in the footer of any page, or open Settings inside the game. Your answer is remembered for twelve months, after which the banner asks again.
